Today we did a slide called Te Rā Kirihimete which means Christmas day.  We would get our Chromebooks then go on to slides. Next we would have to write the titles then write the sentences in Maori and English. after we wrote the sentences we added pictures that matched the sentence. when we finished writing the sentences and adding pictures we had to mote them.

The part I enjoyed about this mahi was getting to add the pictures since I found the correct pictures that matched. The part I disliked about this mahi was having to write it because I would forget to write some stuff and get them mixed up. The part I learnt most about was most of the Maori kupu on the slideshow.

Today for te reo Maori we had to write down some Maori sentences and words on a document. First we had to open up a document and make a table of 5 across and 4 going down. After we did that we had to write in the first boxes 1 person, 2 people, and 3 or more people then write in the other boxes next to it. After we finished writing in the boxes of the table we had to write down the bottom some sentences.

The thing I enjoyed about this mahi was writing the sentences down the bottom because it was quite easy to do. The part I disliked about this mahi was writing in the boxes because it would take a while to move from box to box. I thought this mahi was easy to do since we got told what to do.

The other week we had to do a slide called He Pehea Te Kai.

First we had to get our Chromebooks since we had to do it on Chromebooks, then we had to open up a slide and write all the kopu that Whaea Jazz had written on the board which we had to do in English and Maori. After we had done that we had to mote the kopu but only in Maori then after we had done doing that we would have to blog it.

The part I enjoyed about this mahi was getting to add pictures to the slide that represents the kopu. The part I disliked was having to add both Maori and English because sometimes I would forget to do it. And the part I learned about this mahi was a lot of new Maori words that I did not know.

Today we had to make these papel picado. We had to watch this video to show us how to make a papel picado on slides. After we watched a video we got to go onto the slide that got sent to us and make our own one and add our own pictures. I picked a skateboard since I really enjoy skateboarding. What I really enjoyed was getting to find our own picture to add and I would do it again.

Today we learnt about showing possessions and the differences between “A” and “O”. We had to write on a google slide the differences. First we would have to write the title, then all of the sentences and words with a picture with that slides.

After we finished what we did on the slide, we had to get a paper that had these different types of Maori words on them and then write the translation and when we did that we would have to see which Maori words went into “A” or  “O”. And then mark it to see which ones we got right.

The part I really enjoyed was getting to find out new Maori words I hadn’t known or had forgotten. The part I disliked was having to mark it since lots of people kept taking the paper. The thing I learned was finding out what “A” and “O” meant.

Last week I got to make a Matariki star. I had to search on google to find a star from the Matariki cluster then draw it. The star I chose was Ururangi. After I chose my star, I had to color it in, add stars, color the background in black pastels then we got to add glitter on the stars.

The part I really enjoyed about making my star was getting to add glitter to my artwork, the part I did not enjoyed was having to make the background black with pastels since there were not much black pastels.

If I could do this again I would because it was really fun to do.

Today we had to write comparison sentences. We would have to write down the sentences that were on the board which was “He orite te kakahu kaukau o ngā Tama” meaning “The boys togs are the same.” and “He rereke te tae o te makawe o Tui raua ko Zyah.” Which also means “Tui and Zyah have different colored hair.”

After we had written on the board we had to write 2 of our own comparison sentences. I had wrote “He orite te makawe o ngā kotiro” meaning “The girls hair is the same” and “He rereke te tae kirimoko o ngā  Kotiro me Tama.” meaning “The boys and girls have different skin colors.” After writing our own sentences, we had to record with a buddy a video and say our sentences.

The thing I really enjoyed about this mahi was getting to write our own sentences, the part I disliked was remembering the Maori word for one of my sentences. The part I learned during this mahi was what orite and rereke meant.

This week we had to write about our holidays,

In the holidays I went out with my family to see this event that was happening in town, it was called Tirama Mai. There was lots of cool stuff there which I really enjoyed looking at. My cousin and I had gone on a walk around all of the stalls that were up then we had walked around town. It was really funny walking around at night with my cousin because we were doing lots of weird things on the street like doing random cartwheels on the footpath and acting like we were in a cult. This really funny part about going to Tirama Mai was when a 40 year old man drove past me and my cousin beeping and pulling the finger at us for dancing, and when I fell over on the footpath and these 2 guys were looking at me like I was crazy but I did not care. 

And once in the holidays, Eva, Zyah and I were on call while playing Roblox. Eva was making a roblox character while Zyah and I were being strange, when we all went silent Zyah started to put salt up her nose. Eva and I were laughing since she was crying, laughing and screaming at the same time.

And also Eva, Luka, Natalija, and I got to go to Ataahua’s birthday party. We got to go bowling, play laser tag, eat chips, burgers and chicken nuggets, and play games in the time zone which was so fun.

And me, my brother and nana got to go on the gondola which was fun, and we got to go to the warehouse to get glue tack for my posters in my room, then we went to mcdonalds which was really fun.

My favorite part about my holidays was when I was on call with my friends and Zyah accidentally put salt up her nose.

This term I learnt about Arbor Day, I learnt that Arbor Day was a day where we would have to plant trees and learn about why it is important.my link I also learnt about the animal adaptations, I learnt that all of the animals have different adaptations.link We also got to make a superhero who deals with pollution. I learnt that there are lots of things that could help with pollution.link

In kaitiakitanga I learned about looking after each other and taking care of the community.

During Pangarau I learnt about what Pi means and what the formula for radius and the formula for circumference is. Learning about what Pi means was pretty easy but when we had to do the formula for the radius and circumference was getting kinda hard but got easier the more I understood it. Link

 What I learned about pollution and recycling is that we can help with recycling and pollution in lots of different ways. We had to make a poster to explain about plastic. Link I learned that there is lots of rubbish that gets dropped .I really enjoyed making my pollution superhero and doing the animal adaptation.

Yesterday, on the 27th of June, the kapahaka group went to the Palms to do a performance.  We had travelled by 2 busses to the Palms which was not enjoyable since it was really hot in them and it smelt really bad. We sang 5 songs that were named Nga Iwi E, Titiro Mai, E Te Tau, a haka and Matariki.

My favourite part about this was when we were on our way back from the Palms my friends and I saw 2 teenagers outside of Avonside, the girl I saw was covering her eyes and this boy from Shirley boys looked like he was taking of his tie and his shirt so that was a weird experience.

The part I disliked about this was the bus rides. I really enjoyed doing this and I would do it again.
